These special events are made possible through money raised by our PTO at the 2010 Family Fun Run and through Cub Shack.  Thank you so much for supporting our fundraising efforts and the children of SCE!  Be sure to watch the website for possible date/time changes or program additions.

2010-11 Special Events...
Safety Day (all grades)
September 30, 2010 @ 8:45am -
Safety day is a day to kick off Safety month.  There will be a manned Fire truck, Police car and ambulance for the kids to see , each group will get about 10 minutes to view each vehicle and ask any questions they may have.  Also we will have information on crimestoppers, code red and 911 for each child as well as a kid kit to take home.

Primary Focus (all grades) October 1, 2010 @ 8:45 & 9:45am - Primary Focus is an interactive educational format focusing on the nationally recognized Six Pillars Of Character. These six pillars are: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship and are presented as a counterbalance to the negative influences bombarding our children everyday such as bullying, conflict resolution, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, gang violence, and dropping out of school.

Book Bash-Book Fair October 2010 - Book Bash is an interactive educational reading assembly program that is part story time, part puppet show, part magic show and 100% fun! They pull books from the book fair to put in the show!

Mad Science Workshop-2nd grade November 11, 2010 @ 8:45a-2:30 & November 12 , 2010 @ 8:45-12:05 - Mad Science workshop is a hands-on science experience with professional lesson plans, unique equipment and animated instructors that offer children truly engaging learning experiences. Watts Up teaches the science behind lightning and static electricity.

Nana Puddin’-Pre K & Kindergarten  December 2, 2010 @ 2:00p - "COLORS" with Nancy Worcester starts with a simple black and white stage setup. Nancy and her many puppets will discuss many character attributes and for each one they will add a color to the backdrop. These character attributes include following the rules, name calling and bullying, being responsible and making good choices, doing their part to save the world and accepting their limitations.

Mary Vogas-3rd grade January 26, 2010 @ 8:45a-3:30p - The Endangered Animal and Tropical Rainforest Program is a multimedia approach to meet the needs of audio, visual or kinesthetic learners that will give information on the tropical rainforest, reasons why animals are endangered today and what can be done to help.

Mary Vogas-4th grade January 27 & 28, 2011 @ 8:45a-3:30p - The Lab Stations - Texas Animals incorporate math, reading and science TEKS  and allow students to formulate and answer questions at their own level for an optimum cross curriculum learning experience.

Hank The Cowdog-1st and 2nd grade February  17,2011 @ 8:30a & 10:00a - Main Street Theater of Houston brings to life Hank the Cowdog in Hank the Cowdog and the Curse of the Incredible Priceless Corncob.  Following the performance there will be a question and answer period and photos.

Aggie Wranglers (all grades) February 17, 2011 - The Aggie Wranglers are a student-run, Country and Western exhibition dance group comprised solely of Texas A&M students who perform a choreographed high-speed polka routine and internationally famous Aggie-style jitterbug.

Urgeworks (all grades) April 14, 2011 @ 2:00p - The Mathematics of Hip Hop show explores the role that math and numbers play in the four major elements of the hip hop culture. T.A.K.S. objectives are implemented into the speeches and skits reinforcing everyday mathematical concepts.

Mad Science Show-1st grade March 3, 2011@ 8:45a - Mad Science is an upbeat, fun show that introduces children to a world of discovery through science.

Mobile Dairy Classroom -Kindergarten & 2nd May 10, 2011@ 8:45a - Mobile Dairy Classroom is a traveling milking parlor, featuring a live cow and an oral presentation. Trained instructors will demonstrate how to milk a cow, describe how milk goes from the farm to the consumer, and then answer questions from the audience.

Marsha’s Petting Zoo -Kindergarten May 10, 2011 @ 8:45a - Marsha’s Petting Zoo is a mobile exotic petting zoo with a wide range of animals to excite and educate our children. Some of the Montgomery High FHA students will also be there to help properly educate the students about the animals.
